Menstrual Justice
in Flood Zones
The Crisis: In cyclone shelters, menstruating women face shame, infection risk, and isolation. Menstrual health is rarely budgeted in disaster response, rendering half the population invisible during emergencies.
SSIF's Breakthrough:
-
Distributed 10,000+ hygiene kits (reusable pads, soap, pouches, education leaflets)
-
Built "Pad Banks" in 25 shelters across 3 districts
-
Trained 150+ peer educators using local dialects and religiously sensitive curricula
-
Partnered with district officials to mandate menstrual supplies in emergency stockpiles
Impact: School attendance among adolescent girls rose by 150% in targeted zones. We reframe menstrual care as a survival need, not a luxury.
